We rode through this area last summer and knew that we would have to come back. The natural beauty you will be drawn into on this ride is indescribable. It's as close to nature as you can get while riding. A visit to this area is a gift that few are fortunate enough to experience. This tour has a chase vehicle so you can stow extra belongings and just ride!
The people are warm and welcoming. The scenery is spectacular – rugged, remote and beautiful. There are forests, hills, streams, rock, lakes – part of our route has been declared one of the top 10 rides in Canada . There's a nice mixture of roads too – from sweeping turns to straighter areas to curves.
The scenery changes but what's common is that we're always surrounded by beautiful views. We'll travel approximately 400 km per day with plenty of time for photo ops and stops at points of interest. We've selected some great local accommodations and eateries – known for their hospitality – and delicious meals. These are 5 days that you will remember forever.
Our first day takes us through up along the scenic Niagara Escarpment including the Bruce Peninsula where we catch the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Manitoulin Island. After crossing the island, we'll ride along the North Channel before stopping for the night in Elliot Lake at an Inn overlooking the lake.
The next three days are spent immersed in the best riding experience you'll find and we've planned a route that makes the most of our time here. Day two fall in love with the rugged remoteness and beauty of this area. Enjoy amazing stops in pristine areas before stopping for the night in Wawa. The next day, there is more spectacular scenery and roads to enjoy along Lake Superior as we make our way to Batchewana Bay . We'll overlook the water again during our stay and arrive in plenty of time to experience a Lake Superior sunset and an optional big canoe ride.
After a morning of more great riding, the next afternoon is spent on St. Joseph Island , which is the source of many colourful stories – some legend, some historical fact. It's also known for it's hardwood forests and was originally named Anipich, the Ojibway word for "place of the hardwood trees". We'll end the day in Thessalon on the North Channel of Lake Huron where all the rooms at our accommodations face the water and the restaurant is widely renowned. Saturday we'll make our way home, back across Manitoulin Island , and relax while the Chi Cheemaun ferries us to Tobermory.
Our tour ends Saturday at your choice of Meaford or Orangeville.
