Central Ontario

Duration: 3 days / 2 nights
Distance: Approx 1100 km
Dates: Sept 24-26, 2010 (3 days/2 nights)

The itinerary for this ride may go in either direction.

Day 1: Scenic Ride through Simcoe, Durham, Northumberland and Hastings on the way to Price Edward County

Distance: 400 km

Our journey begins in beautiful Hockley Valley . We'll journey through valleys of picturesque farms and forests, gigantic boulders, and rail fences as we travel east across Ontario .

Prince Edward Country

Here we'll ride along some of the oldest roads in Ontario . You'll enjoy a spectacular coastline of unspoiled countryside, pastoral farms, dozens of roadside stands , and giant sand dunes.

Gananoque

We'll end our day in Gananoque, a charming town located on the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the Thousand Islands.

Day 2: Central and Eastern Ontario –Gananoque to Haliburton

Distance: 350 km

Canadian Shield

We'll pass through rugged terrain and into pioneer country, where dreams were born and lost. We'll wind through remote regions of mountain scenery and historic hamlets with steep hills, twists and curves, plateaus, and valleys.

You'll enjoy shopping for original art and crafts in the picture-postcard villages that line the Rideau Canal corridor. We'll stop in traditional villages and towns that boast three centuries of Canadian heritage. Merrickville, one of our stops, is considered one of the prettiest towns in Canada .

Heading north we'll venture through the rocky granite of the Canadian Shield . We'll view white pines and birch trees rising up alongside the highway. As we wind our way west we'll soak up the wilderness, granite beauty, and remote splendor of hardwood forests, sparkling rivers and pristine lakes.

Haliburton Highlands

As we enter the Haliburton Highlands we'll gaze out over glorious lakes and sandy beaches; winding, racing, and meandering rivers; rocky islands adorned with windswept pines. After a day of stunning scenery tucked around corner, we’ll arrive in Haliburton at our destination for the day.

Day 3: Central Ontario - Haliburton to Orangeville

Distance: 300 km (following the scenic route)

This morning we'll pack up and bid adieu. We'll say farewell to Haliburton.

As our tour draws to a close we'll pass through vast lowlands of spruce and maple. enjoy a We'll take the scenic route so you can maximize your riding experience and enjoy the beauty of this unique region. You'll savor a relaxing ride home to end a rejuvenating and refreshing adventure.
