August 2008

Our riding season is so short and summer is flying by. If you haven't already finalized your riding vacation, you are in luck!! August and September can be the best riding months and we're finishing summer with a grand finale - our Algoma Ultimate Adventure. We've been there twice already this season and can't wait to go back. Algoma captures your heart and revitalizes your spirit – there is no comparison.

Rugged beauty, pristine wilderness, crystal clear water, moose, bears, wolves, falling stars – we've seen them all this year during our 2 visits so far this year. Our next ride includes a scenic Otter flight, fresh pickerel shore lunch, excellent potential for Aurora Borealis sightings. Throughout this area, we are able to guide you to experiences and unbeatable sights you would not find on your own. We are deeply honoured to be invited back to land that has been home to the Michipicoten First Nations for over 7,000 years and comes as close to paradise as anywhere on earth.

The Fall tour to Beaver Valley and the Bruce Peninsula is sold out; however there are still spaces available on the Central Ontario 3-day weekend tour at the end of September. There is also a Day Ride of the Hockley area on September 7 and a repeat on the very popular Ladies Ride and Scandinavian Spa day – October 5th.

We intentionally keep our group sizes small to maximize your experience which is why so many of our rides have limited availability. We have an exciting and full season – and would love to have you join us.

Algoma Testimonial

As in my other Trillium Tours, this one also exceeded my expectations.  It was more than a ride; it was a memorable vacation, for both Becky and me. The riding was terrific and the overall experience was enhanced by the thought and planning that went into the tour by the organizers.

This trip had the added benefit for me of having my wife join in the fun, even though she does not venture onto the motorcycle.   She rode in the chase vehicle, but was still able to participate in all the activities.   The result is, we can both share the memories of a most pleasant tour of the Lake Superior region.

Profile – Chantal Cournoyer

Chantal Cournoyer embodies adventure and living life to the fullest - whether it's organizing an annual BMW GS challenge, preparing for an African desert rally, teaching an on-road course, or promoting other motorcycling events.

The Rally Roses des Sables is a women's only event that takes place in Morocco and is based on the pure tradition of an African rally. This year, Chantal Cournoyer and her rally partner Stephanie Chagnon aka Team Tumbleweed will be the first Canadians to attend this rally on motorcycles. The objective is to navigate each day's route with the aid of a road-book, map and compass. The extremely challenging terrain varies from lava beds to sand dunes. The last two days are spent solo in the dunes with only maps, a sleeping bag and some food.

Fall Ride-in Clinics

With shop hours ranging from $80 to $95 and more – if you can get in – it makes sense to know the basics to take care of your bike. It only takes 1 oil change or 1 visit to the dealer to pay for the clinic – and it's nowhere near as much fun.

It's not unusual at our clinics to discover unsafe conditions on at least one motorcycle that are compromising the rider's safety – some significantly. By knowing how and what to check, you can take a few simple steps that will greatly and safely enhance your riding experience. That's invaluable.

All makes and models of motorcycle are welcome.

Niagara Clinic – ladies only.
Orangeville Clinic – men and women welcome.
