May 2008

Orangeville ClinicThe season is officially underway with our first event behind us – a sold out Motorcycle Clinic in Orangeville. There's nothing like getting down and dirty and intimately familiar with the machines that play such an important role in helping us discover our power.

As promised, I've signed up for refresher training and will be spending May 20 th on a dual sport following the guidance of the experts at Horseshoe Valley . I have no intention of riding off road, however the skills you learn at these courses are invaluable in helping deal with the unexpected when we're on the road. What are you doing to get your skills ready?

The profile this month is from one of our own. Many of you have met Al at a workshop, show or tour and recognized his contagious enthusiasm for riding. He's written his own profile – any edits would have taken away from the feeling he creates.

If you haven't already planned your summer riding, it's time look at our calendar and do it now. We intentionally keep our group sizes small to maximize your experience and many of our rides are getting booked. We're looking forward to an exciting and full summer – and would love to have you join us.

Niagara Motorcycle Clinic – Ladies only
– only a few spots left

This will be our 4 th annual Spring clinic and there are only a few spots available. With shop hours ranging from $80 to $95 – if you can get in – it makes sense to know the basics to take care of your bike. It only takes 1 oil change or 1 visit to the dealer to pay for the clinic – and it's nowhere near as much fun.

It's not unusual at our clinics to discover unsafe conditions on at least one motorcycle that are compromising the rider's safety – some significantly. By knowing how and what to check, you can take a few simple steps that will greatly and safely enhance your riding experience. That's invaluable.

All makes and models of motorcycle are welcome.

Profile – Al Jones – The Motorcyclist

As a child, Al saw an advertisement in the Sears catalogue for the Allstate motorbikes and dreamt of one day riding his own machine. People like Mike Duff, Mike Hailwood and John Surtees became his heroes. He remembers the day in grade seven when a loud truck went down the road outside of his school and as the downshift for the corner was made exclaiming loudly “That must have been a Honda”. The class laughed and he knew he was hooked on the magic.

Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting affable Al during tours, Workshops, trade shows.
